DAVAO CITY – Nearly 2,000 senior citizens benefited from free medical services during two recent healthcare missions organized by the office of First Congressional District Representative Paolo Z. Duterte in Davao City this month.

Over 1,000 seniors from Barangay Catalunan Grande received medical consultations and free medicines on March 5. Another 700 senior citizens from Barangay Talomo Proper accessed similar services on March 18.

In addition to general check-ups, seniors underwent eye examinations and received reading glasses. Those needing maintenance medications, vitamins, wheelchairs, and nebulizers also received assistance from Rep. Duterte’s office.

“We in Barangay Talomo are truly grateful for Congressman Pulong’s initiative. The free check-ups, medicines, vitamins, eyeglasses, and wheelchairs are a significant help for many seniors who are no longer working,” shared 59-year-old Annejoy Tiongson.

Barangay Talomo Councilor Lotte Cantoja also thanked the congressman and his team, acknowledging their efforts to make healthcare more accessible and ease the financial strain on seniors and their families.

Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II was key in overseeing the events and engaging with beneficiaries and barangay staff. Specialists from the Southern Philippines Medical Center provided medical consultations, while attendees were given hot porridge for a morning snack and a hearty lunch.

He thanked the healthcare workers, barangay staff, and the first district team for ensuring the medical mission’s success. He also thanked the senior citizens who participated, highlighting that Rep. Duterte’s initiative prioritizes their health and well-being.

Rigo further emphasized the significant contributions of senior citizens to the community, recognizing their wisdom and life experience. He noted that this effort reflects a sincere commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors and ensuring essential healthcare services reach those who need them most.
