Empty talk versus performance (Editorial by Jun Ledesma)

Performance report is the most effective and eloquent language in a political campaign. This is best exemplified in Davao del Norte where performance could speak for the candidates against rethorics which are empty talks.

Gubernatorial Candidate Alan Dujali do not indulge in lengthy talks. In all the towns of District 2 in the province he has projects which argue for him. These range from roads and bridges, school and muli-purpose buildings, health missions and fish hatcheries and laboratories all spelled out in concrete terms under his EAT Political Agenda. EAT refers to E-for Education, A – for Agriculture productivity and T – for Trabaho (jobs).

In Tagum City incumbent Mayor Rey “CO” Uy is a man of few words. The moment you approach the City proper you immediately sense a different kind of environment. The ornamental palm trees lineup the highway. When he returned as Mayor of the Tagum , CO buckled down for work and restored and upgrade City roads abandoned by his predecessor. He redeemed the image of Tagum from being the “investment scam capital of the Philippines” by running after the syndicates. Criminal elements have likewise been addressed.

His son, Oyo Uy has likewise learned the lesson of public service that catapulted him as Vice Governor, thereby leading the Legislative Department of Davao del Norte which he chaired with tact and aplomb.

Performance draws a line of difference between an achiever and talker. To put it rather bluntly, Alan Dujali has billions worth of projects in District 2 while Edwin Jubahib could only harangue his political constituents to empty rethorics. Dujali, Rey Uy and Oyo Uy are demonstrative leaders while the likes of Jubahib is just a talker.
