Senator Christopher “Bong” Go emerged as the top choice for the 2025 senatorial elections—ranking first in both the aided and unaided voting preference categories—according to the Pahayag 2025 First Quarter national survey conducted by Publicus Asia Inc. from March 15 to 20.
Polling 1,500 respondents nationwide, the survey revealed that Senator Go is the most preferred candidate for the 2025 senatorial elections, garnering 45% in the aided voting segment.
In the unaided senatorial preference segment of the same survey—where respondents named candidates without being prompted by a list—Senator Go also ranked first, securing 17% of spontaneous mentions.
This underscores not only his strong recall among voters but also the authenticity of his support base heading into the 2025 elections.
“Ginagawa ko lang ang trabaho na iniatang sa akin—tumulong sa abot ng makakaya at siguraduhin na ang serbisyo ng gobyerno ay mailapit sa ordinaryong tao sa paraang may malasakit,” Senator Go said, reacting to the strong survey results. “Alam ko kung gaano kahirap ang buhay para sa marami nating kababayan, kaya hindi puwedeng puro salita lang—dapat may gawa.”
In addition to his commanding electoral support, Senator Go also ranked highest in approval and trust among incumbent senators. He led the approval rating at 31% and the trust score at 28%, surpassing even long-time Senate mainstays.
As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Senator Go has remained at the forefront of advancing meaningful public health measures that prioritize accessibility and compassion, particularly for the underprivileged.
Among the most tangible legacies of his health advocacy is the Malasakit Centers program—one-stop shops designed to assist impoverished patients in minimizing their hospital expenses. Senator Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which institutionalized this initiative to ensure its continuity and reach.
To date, 167 Malasakit Centers are fully operational across the country, each serving as a crucial lifeline for Filipinos burdened by the cost of medical treatment. The Department of Health (DOH) reports that the program has already helped more than 17 million Filipinos with their medical needs.
Complementing this effort, the establishment of Super Health Centers addresses another critical gap—bringing essential primary care services closer to grassroots communities. These centers are equipped to provide consultation, early disease detection, and preventive care, bolstering the foundation of the country’s healthcare system.
Thanks to the collective efforts of Senator Go, fellow lawmakers, the DOH under Secretary Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa, and proactive local government units, funding was successfully secured for the construction of over 700 Super Health Centers nationwide.
Senator Go also played a key role in expanding the reach of specialized care. He principally sponsored and is one of the authors of RA 11959, or the Regional Specialty Centers Act, which mandates the creation of specialty centers within existing DOH regional hospitals—ensuring that advanced medical services are no longer limited to urban centers but brought closer to the people who need them most.
Despite his preference to stay out of the spotlight, Senator Go’s hands-on, on-the-ground style of leadership—especially during emergencies and disasters—has become a hallmark of his public service.
Go, who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
Senator Go also surged to the top spot in the latest Stratbase-commissioned Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, tying for first place among preferred senatorial candidates for the 2025 elections with 42% voter preference. This marks a consistent upward trend—38% in February, 37% in January, and 32% in December 2024.
He also maintained high rankings across other polling firms. He topped the February 20 to 26 Pulse Asia survey with 58.1%, up from second to third place in January where he posted 50.4%.
