Davao City Water District reaffirms its commitment to supporting education through the continued implementation of its Tulong Aral Program for elementary and junior and senior high (JSH) schools for the school year 2024-2025. This commitment was formalized through the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between DCWD and the Department of Education (DepEd) XI โ Davao City Division on March 20, 2025 at DCWD Matina Office Multi-Purpose Hall.
In attendance were Assistant General Manager for Administration Atty. Bernardo D. Delima Jr. on behalf of DCWD and Schools Division Superintendent Reynante A. Solitario with Division Partnership Coordinator Jonas P. Piore for DepEd. Also present were the school heads of the 40 beneficiary schools consisting of 21 elementary and 19 JSH schools.
The Tulong Aral Program for elementary and JSH schools was launched in 2012 and 2017, respectively. It is part of DCWD’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program that provides performance-based educational incentive to students in schools within the project areas of DCWDโs Integrated Watershed Management Program in Malagos, Mt. Talomo-Lipadas, and Mt. Tipolog-Tamugan watersheds and areas affected by major DCWD projects including the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project, Water Service Coverage Expansion, and Rural Water Supply System Development Projects.
Through the program, the top five performing male and top five performing female students in grades five and six who maintain a minimum weighted percentage average (WPA) of 85% per grading period will receive financial incentives. At the JSH school level, beneficiaries include Indigenous Peoples and children of DCWDโs Peopleโs Organizations partners. Students in grades seven to ten who achieve at least 85% WPA in English, Math, and Science, grade 11 students who maintain a minimum 85% WPA in all English-related, Math-related, and Science-related subjects, and grade 12 students with at least 85% WPA in all Research-related, Core, and Specialized subjects will receive cash incentives.
These students will also be provided with educational supplies, skills training, capacity building, and learning interventions to help improve their academic performance while fostering a sense of environmental stewardship.
Recipient elementary schools include Baguio Central Elementary School (ES), Malagos ES SPED Center, Emboc Lingcayong ES, Cadalian ES, Gumalang ES, Rosalia Aglay Ayag ES, Tambobong ES, Tamugan ES, Kidali ES, Luyan ES, Malalan ES, Bala ES, Mangas-as Integrated School (IS), Sumpitan IS, Baracayo IS, Bartolome IS, Tungkalan ES, Quezon ES, Gatungan IS, Lacson IS, and Marilog CES.
For junior and senior high schools, the beneficiaries are Baguio National School of Arts and Trades, Ampon National High School (NHS), Cadalian NHS, Elias P. Dacudao Gumalang School of Home Industries, Lower Tamugan NHS, Maria Cristina P. Belcar Agricultural HS, Tambobong NHS, Tamugan NHS, Mangas-as IS, Sumpitan IS, Baracayo IS, Bartolome IS, Camansi NHS, Emilio Estipona NHS, Tungkalan NHS, Calinan NHS, Lacson IS, Marilog NHS, and Marahan NHS.
DCWD remains dedicated in supporting the cityโs learners by providing educational opportunities that empower them to excel academically and become responsible stewards of the environment.
