The City Government of Davao and Davao City Water District continued their information drive to raise awareness on the Davao City Septage Management Program (SMP) through a forum in Brgy. Mulig on April 29, 2025.
The forum is part of the City Government of Davao and DCWD’s ongoing efforts to promote SMP and its importance in reducing water pollution and the risk of waterborne diseases by preventing the improper disposal of untreated septage into the city’s water bodies.
The highlight of the campaign is the Septage and Sewerage Management Ordinance of Davao City that mandates the use of standard sanitary tanks that are easily accessible during desludging, regular desludging of sanitary tanks, and proper disposal of collected septage.
Also presented during the forum was DCWD’s upcoming Sanitation Service which will provide affordable, convenient, efficient, reliable and regular septage collection, transport, treatment, and disposal, thus helping Davaoeños comply with the ordinance.
Other topics discussed included updates from the Environmental Management Bureau XI on the status of Davao City’s water quality and DCWD’s water service and customer support services.
