Davao City Water District provided technical assistance to the Manambulan Waterworks and Sanitation Association, Inc. (MAWASA) in Brgy. Manambulan on April 29 to 30, 2025 to improve the management and operation of the association’s water system.
The two-day activity aimed to equip MAWASA’s Board of Directors, officers, and technical operators with essential knowledge and skills to help enhance the delivery of safe and sustainable water service in their community. MAWASA is a barangay water association that has been sustainably operating for around 30 years with around 1,600 service connections.
The activity included lectures on Water Service Operation and Management, Proposed Improvements of the Association’s Existing Water System, Water Meter Management, Plumbing and Pipelines Maintenance, Water Quality and Safety, Organization Development Management, Small Water Supply System Organizational Structure, and Customer Relations Management. These were facilitated by DCWD’s in-house experts.
The participants also participated in hands-on sessions on the creation, identification, and integration of critical elements surrounding their water system, water meter reading, and pipeline repair to complement the lectures with practical applications.
The Rural Water Works Technical Assistance is part of DCWD’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program under Sustainable Water, Sanitation and Hygiene that aims to help improve water and sanitation access in communities outside of DCWD’s service coverage area. (𝐾𝑖𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑎 𝑀𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑒 𝐴. 𝑀𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑜𝑧𝑎)
