I meet with the Mayors of Bogo City, Medellin and Daanbantayan to propose the establishment of Pilot Farms for two new crops, Sorghum and Soybeans.
My engagements with Bogo City Mayor Mayel Martinez, Medellin Mayor Edwin Salimbangon and Daanbantayan Mayor Gilbert Arabis were arranged by a friend and supporter Dr. Ronald Oporto of Bogo City.
These two crops, along with Corn, are the primary materials in the formulation of poultry, hog and Aqua Feeds.
Of the three, however, I am more excited with Soybeans not only because it is a high value crop but mainly because it is a nitrogen-fixing plant.
During a field soil test which Rocky French conducted last Sunday, it was established that the soil in Bogo City has been depleted of nitrogen because of years of Sugarcane monocropping.
If Soybeans performs well in Trials in the Pilot Farms, it could be a perfect rotational crop for farmers of Cebu.
