DAVAO CITY — The Davao City Council approved the supplemental budget on Tuesday, December 23, which provides gratuity pay and service recognition incentives to city government employees, following its third and final reading.
The 21st City Council approved Supplemental Budget No. 3, which allocates a total of P187.324 million sourced from the city’s General Fund Proper and Economic Enterprises.
Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, chairman of the Committee on Finance, Ways, and Means, said the funding will cover incentives for both regular and non-regular personnel of the City Government of Davao.
Under the measure, employees holding plantilla positions may receive a service recognition incentive of up to P20,000 each. Job order workers and personnel under a contract of service may receive gratuity pay of up to P7,000.
The General Fund Proper includes appropriations for various city government departments to support the payouts.
During deliberations, Dayanghirang said the approval of the incentives reflects the city’s commitment to good governance and employee welfare.
He noted that city personnel have consistently received benefits due to them under the Duterte administration, with the full backing of the 26-member council.
“The funds for the supplemental budget will be drawn from surplus revenues from calendar year 2024 operations, as certified by the City Accountant and the City Treasurer,” Dayanghirang said.
According to the city officials, the approval ensures the timely release of incentives to eligible employees in recognition of their service to the local government and the people of Davao City. (By Ivy Tejano)
