Davao City has shared the international limelight with tennis star Alexandra Eala. The Kingdome, the world’s biggest covered arena with 75,000 seating capacity formally opened September 1 with all the grandeur and splendor beyond anyone’s imagination. Across the globe, in New York City, Alex Eala delivered one of her spectacular victories same day with a devastating score of 6-1 and 6-2 against American Mary Stoiana in the 2026 US Open.
The grand opening of the Kingdome was attended by more than 80,000 guests all sitting in comfort. The choir in their impeccable performance belted out gospel songs so infectious you cannot help but hum the tunes.
One would think that after a battalion of fully armed policemen led by Nicolas Torre stormed and desecrated the KOJC Church compound and Jose Ma. College and intimidated the Kingdom’s leaders and members, the ministry would likewise crumble and dispersed especially when the present dispensation detained its executive Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy over trumped up charges from characters who, unknown to the pastor and the church leaders, were secretly absconding the income from the ministry’s other sources of income among these aircraft leasing and fast food franchises.
I personally can feel the pain and frustration of Pastor Apollo. I personally knew the characters who betrayed him. People he trusted most, driven by greed, absconded and fled to the US to “seek asylum”. The traitors conjured despicable lies against the person who saved them from poverty and despondency. Unfortunately the US immigration believed their prevarications and granted them asylum. The same charges were made bases in the Philippine Court which was the reason why a warrant of Pastor Apollo’s arrest was issued. And yes, the government dispatched a battalion of policemen to hunt the good pastor.
One would wonder why Pastor Apollo, who was building in Davao City the biggest covered arena in the world, who restored the forest cover in a vast wasteland in the foothills of Mt. Apo which is now known as the Glory Mountain is being sought by the Marcos government.
To understand why, it may require for some to reflect on various antecedents. The franchise on SMNI was suspended by The House Committee on Legislative Franchises over alleged violations, including spreading alleged false information regarding House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s travel expenses and red-tagging critics of program hosts Lorraine Badoy, erstwhile spokesperson of NTF-ELCAC and Jeffrey “Ka Eric” Celis anti-CPP/NPA program over the TV network.
In short Pastor Apollo’s fate may have been due to his unshakable friendship with then Mayor/President Rodrigo Duterte. Both are behind bars but unshaken by the threats of their tormentors and unbend by insidious political power play.
As I watched the grand opening of the massive infrastructure and the thousands who came to witness the event I came to realize that despite all the diabolical forces that attempted to decimate the Kingdom of Jesus Christ ministry it is obvious that guided and blessed by the Father Almighty Pastor Apollo Quiboloy triumphed. KOJC members have multiplied and they now have the biggest Kingdome in the world for worship and fellowship.
In God’s time Pastor Apollo and his bosom friend, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte will be free from bondage. In time too, their tormentors will have their comeuppance.
