Senator Christopher “Bong” Go extended his deepest sympathies to the family of Ramil Ortiz, who lost his life in a fire incident in Pagadian City, and arranged for assistance to help his grieving loved ones during their time of bereavement.
Ortiz, 51, passed away on September 12 following the fire. Reports surrounding the tragedy also drew attention after his remains were reportedly recovered with a Bible held close to him, a poignant detail that resonated with many who learned of the incident.
Upon learning about the family’s situation, Go immediately conveyed his condolences and arranged flowers and financial assistance to be delivered to Ortiz’s wake as a gesture of solidarity with the bereaved family.
According to Go, losing a loved one under such painful circumstances leaves a wound that no material assistance can erase. He stressed that even simple acts of compassion can help remind grieving families that they do not have to face difficult moments alone.
Go also emphasized the importance of strengthening fire prevention, disaster preparedness, and responsive public services at the community level to help protect Filipino families from tragedies that can suddenly claim lives and livelihoods.
Throughout his public service, Go has consistently maintained that government service must be felt most strongly during moments of crisis, disaster, illness, and bereavement. He reiterated his commitment to continue reaching out to Filipinos in distress and providing whatever assistance his office can extend.
