2025 Production Target: 20,000 Manok Pinoy Breeders! (FOOD FOR THOUGHT by Manny Piñol)

Manny Piñol

Just before the year ended, we set up another breeding yard of 100 pullets which will be mated to the indigenous breed, Pauwakan Asils, to produce the genetic combination which I call the Manok Pinoy.

The second yard has Plymouth Barred Rock Pullets while in the first yard we had another 100 pullets of Black Australorps also crossed with the Orientals.

There were will be at least four more yards to be set up within the month as the pullets show inidications of sexual maturity.

With at least 600 pullets in the breeding yards, I project that we will harvest at least 300 eggs daily or 9,000 in one month starting March.

This volume of eggs monthly would give me about 6,300 chicks a month starting April, with a 70% hatching rate, or at least 60,000 by the end of the year.

Given the assumption that 1/2 will be female and the other half male I will be able to produce no less than 20,000 female breeders.

With the availability of feed materials which I am promoting like Sorghum and Soybeans and the expected boom in Corn Production because of the Corn Development Program which I designed, the production of feeds for the Free-Range Manok Pinoy will not be a problem.

The year 2025 will mark the start of the exponential growth of the Free-Range Chicken Industry in the Province of North Cotabato.

These breeders will be shared with farmers in my province and later on the rest of Mindanao and the country.

This will be my modest contribution to the Food Sufficiency Program of the country.

We’re Breeding Iconic Mindanao ‘Pauwakan’

One of my top farming goals this year is to breed and perpetuate the iconic Mindanao “Pauwakan,” a breed which belongs to the Asil Family of free-range chicken found in East and Southeast Asia.

I already have about 30 “Pauwakan” roosters and 80 hens but I would like to start a breeding program with about 300 hens.

Sa mga farmers sa mga Maguindanao, Iranun at Maranao communities, baka meron kayong magagandang “Pauwakan” na babae.

I will buy the “Pauwakan” hens at a good price provided they conform with the standards of the Asils.

Kung meron kayo, please contact my staff Rose Parillo @09171146762 or Neneng de Asis @09383879735.

Sukran!
