In an unexpected development, Youth Leaders of Matalam town in my home province, asked my brother, Socrates, if they could visit my farm.
Yesterday, I led a dozen Youth Leaders in a tour of my farm in Paco, Kidapawan City showing them the Soybeans trial plots, free-range chicken yards, upgrading of native goats and the Abuyog Sweet Jackfruit Orchard and nurseries.
During the long walk with the Youth Leaders, I shared with them the idea that instead of using their SK Budget for such inane projects as Leadership Trainings in expensive beach resorts or beauty contests, they should consider initiating livelihood projects for the Youth.
After about 3 hours, I heard from them testimonies of how the short exposure to my agricultural projects changed their views on how they could perform better as Youth Leaders of their communities.
They talked about Free-Range Chicken Farming, Modern Aquaculture Projects using Tanks, Goat, Sheep and Cattle Raising.
It was a moment of joy and fulfillment seeing that with proper guidance, these young people could become sensitive and practical leaders in the future. (Photo courtesy: Nonoy Casumpang, Braveheart Farms)
