For our first road trip this 2025, our family stayed overnight at the Catigan Mountain Breeze Resort (CMBR). Glad we agreed to the invitation of my stepson, Dante. Discovering and experiencing this hidden gem of Catigan was a welcome treat for our family as we usher in the new year.
About one hour drive from the city, the resort offers a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city. We definitely enjoyed its comfortably cold weather and fresh air, a relief from the city’s warm temperature and pollution. The sights and sounds of nature, daytime and nighttime, is truly relaxing and calming. A much-needed respite after all the holiday noise and festivities.
Our family booked the rooms at the main villa. It’s living, dining and bedrooms are well furnished and big enough for our requirements. The very modern furniture and fixtures and the attention to details mirror the classy taste and choice of the owners, Johnny and Carmen Go. Am personally impressed with their bathrooms, which are much nicer than those from big city hotels. The big veranda is great for family reception and activities. It gives a perfect view of Davao city’s day and night landscape. You can either book the entire 4-room villa or just the number of rooms you need. Either, you can still enjoy the privacy.
On the resort’s ground, there are several tents for rent. These are perfect for camping enthusiasts and for regular people wanting to experience camp life. They also have an adult and a kiddie pool, for those who are brave enough to swim amidst the cool mountain breeze. The pool area has a bar, and several lounge seats where guests can conveniently laze around. The nooks on nearby treetops are favorite spots for hanging out and chilling with family and friends. The overlooking view is “instagrammable”. Kids will not get bored as they have a playground corner complete with swings and slides. They have ample space for kids to run around.
For those wishing for a destination wedding, CMBR has a designated area complete with gazebo, arches and aisle for that wedding march. It’s picture-perfect for garden weddings. Reception can be held at their main restaurant. Not only does it serve a wide selection of delicious dishes (everything we ordered from their menu was delicious), it also offers a panoramic view of the mountainscape. The ideal reception venue for any occasion.
The very amiable owners, John and Carmen, have more expansion plans laid out for the resort, to include additional villas, bigger campsite, games and entertainment rooms and a zipline. Looking forward to our next visit with all these additional attractions and amenities. We just hope that both the local government and the local communities will continue to extend support as this will boost tourism and livelihood not only in Catigan, but in nearby municipalities and towns, as well.
