Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s Malasakit Team extended additional support to recovering victims of various calamities in New Corella, Talaingod, and Asuncion, Davao del Norte on Friday, January 17 to help them rebuild and recover normalcy in their lives.
During the distribution activities held at the respective Municipal Halls of the towns, Senator Go, in a message, expressed his compassion and unwavering support for the affected families, encouraging them to remain resilient.
A lost life is a lost life forever,” he emphasized in a message.
In partnership with the National Housing Authority (NHA), housing assistance was provided through the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP), an initiative strongly supported by Senator Go to help families rebuild their homes after calamities.
The senator’s Malasakit Team also distributed food packs, vitamins, masks, snacks, basketballs, volleyballs, and shirts to 31 families. Shoes and mobile phones were also given to select recipients.
Senator Go then reiterated his commitment to addressing housing challenges in the country. He highlighted Senate Bill No. 192, which seeks to establish a Rental Housing Subsidy Program for disaster victims. If enacted, this legislation will provide temporary shelter assistance while families rebuild or transition to permanent housing.
Lastly, Senator Go highlighted the recently enacted Republic Act No. 12076, also known as the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act. Signed on December 6, the law mandates the establishment of permanent, safe, and well-equipped evacuation centers in all cities and municipalities across the Philippines. As the principal author and co-sponsor of the law, Go emphasized its role in ensuring the safety and dignity of disaster-affected communities while expediting recovery efforts.
Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
