DAVAO CITY – Sen. Christopher Lawrence Go welcomes the complaint filed against him and former President Rodrigo Duterte by former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, expressing confidence that the truth will emerge once the investigation begins.
Trillanes earlier lodged plunder and other criminal complaints before the Office of the Ombudsman, accusing the senator and the former Chief Executive of allegedly diverting around P7 billion worth of government infrastructure projects to companies owned by Go’s family.
“I have been expecting this complaint, and now we are in the proper forum to prove the baselessness of his allegations,” Go said in a statement on Tuesday.
Go maintained his innocence, saying he is prepared to respond to the allegations “point by point before the Ombudsman, and not through the media.” He also assured full cooperation with the investigation and vowed to respect due process.
“The truth will be revealed, and justice and fairness shall prevail. I hope that the Ombudsman will be fair,” the senator added.
Go, who served as a long-time aide and special assistant to former President Duterte, has repeatedly denied corruption allegations made by Trillanes.
During the Senate hearing on the Department of Public Works and Highways’ proposed 2026 budget, Go urged Secretary Vince Dizon to “seek the truth, not the script,” amid ongoing concerns about irregularities within the agency.
“I join the public in demanding justice. Those involved in corruption must face charges,” Go said, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in government operations.
He also expressed confidence in Dizon’s integrity and commitment to cleansing the department of corruption, while voicing his full support for the proposed DPWH budget 2026.
Go said infrastructure development remains vital to the country’s progress and improving Filipinos’ lives, despite ongoing calls to ensure proper and honest spending of public funds.
