The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), through its social development arm, BPI Foundation (BPIF), has forged a three-year partnership with Lyceum of the Philippines – Davao (LPD) to promote financial education and empower students with essential financial skills.
The partnership, which will begin with a first-year rollout targeting 1,000 students, reflects a shared commitment to equip young Filipinos with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to make sound financial decisions.
“This initiative reflects our shared mission with Lyceum of the Philippines – Davao to empower the next generation through financial literacy. By instilling financial knowledge and promoting responsible financial behavior, we can help develop more resilient individuals and communities in Mindanao,” said Carmina Marquez, BPIF Executive Director.
The partnership marks another milestone in BPIF’s continued push for greater financial inclusion by working hand-in-hand with academic institutions to deliver sustainable and impactful education programs for Filipino youth. In 2024, BPIF already reached 3.2 million beneficiaries through its financial education programs.
The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement was attended by top LPD officials led by Dr. Jason Barlan, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President for Institutional Affairs; Dr. John Joseph Villotes, Dean of the College of Accountancy, Business, and Management; Dr. Kenny James Merin, Vice President for Academic Affairs; along with other College Deans.
Representing BPIF were Carmina Marquez, Executive Director; Manolo Nava, Senior Program Manager for Financial Education and Arts Management; and Gladys Malapo, Program Manager for Financial Education. The initiative also enjoys strong support from BPI’s Davao leadership team, including Area Business Directors Ms. Jean Guirgen, Art Gerald Perez, and Audrey May Rodriguez, together with local BPI branch managers.
