Cattle Production Loans For Young Farmers! (FOOD FOR THOUGHT by Manny Piñol)

Manny Piñol

Here is good news for young farmers who would like to go into Cattle farming but do not have the money to start the project.

The Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), the credit program agency of the Department of Agriculture, actually has a Cattle Production Loaning Program for young farmers and entrepreneurs.

ACPC Program Director Noel Clarence Ducusin said the no-collateral loaning program aims to involve young people in Agriculture by providing them with capitalization to buy several heads of Cattle to start with.

Actually, ACPC wanted to launch this in Central Mindanao early this year but I advised them to link this program up with our Sorghum Silage Production Program to ensure its success.

Historical data will show that the Animal Dispersal Program of the government failed miserably because animals were given out to farmers without teaching them on how to produce feeds for the animals.

On my next trip to Cebu, the Food Security Team supporting the programs of Governor Pamela Baricuatro will hold an Orientation Workshop for Young Farmers and Entrepreneurs who would like to go into Cattle Farming.

The program will be integrated with our Sorghum Silage Production which we will introduce in the town of Medellin before the end of the year.
