Celebrity At Sea (Wanderlust by Jay Ledesma)

Jay Ledesma

I grew up watching one of the most iconic TV series in the 80”s… The Love Boat. I have always wanted to experience the lifestyle of a cruiser. Since my first time in early 2000, I have joined 7 cruises, mostly with my family. Each one brought wonderful experience and precious memories.

The latest cruise my husband and I took last Oct 11, brought us to Greece and Turkey aboard the Celebrity Silhouette, operated by Celebrity Cruises. With a length of 315 meters and 12 decks high, this luxury liner is nothing short of impressive. They offer outstanding service, top-notch cuisine (both in the complimentary and specialty dining) and well thought out design and décor.

Their cabins, which comes in different categories, are spacious, clean and well-maintained despite its launch some 13 years ago. Our room (veranda stateroom) has a big and comfortable bed and sofa, television, mini-bar, cabinets and drawers, decent sized toilet, and a two-seater veranda. Our stateroom attendant, Cabral, made sure that it’s tidied daily and that we always have fresh towels and chocolates on our pillows.

One thing is sure… when you’re on a cruise, you will never go hungry! The Oceanview Café (buffet area), open from 6 am to 12 midnight, offers a wide array of international cuisine for its passengers. Whether you’re a lover of meat, sea foods, pasta, salads, cheeses, desserts, pizza, etc., they will most likely have it. On the other hand, the 2-level main restaurant (with 6 pm and 8:30 pm seating), offers exquisite menu selections, which change nightly, so guests can have variety of classic and contemporary choices. Nightly, they feature a Chef’s special dish… it can be an appetizer, dessert or main course. Special shoutout to our food attendants, Sherwin De Luna of Philippines and Haerul Fadly of Indonesia, for their exemplary service. Our dining experience was made more fun and delectable because of their attentive and “generous” serving. There’s also the mast grill at the pool deck, offering burgers and hotdogs and the Spa Café, serving snacks. Now, for those with distinct palates and willing to spend for their meal, they can try any of the specialty restaurants of Silhouette. The ship also has several bars and lounges.

To while away our time onboard, Silhouette provides different facilities, such as the pool deck, library, theater (with nightly shows), spa, shops, casino and kiddie center; and guest activities, like Bingo, yoga, zumba, karaoke, game shows, silent disco, art auction, wine tasting and jewelry show. There’s no dull moment aboard Silhouette.

Making every port of call well-spent and memorable, Silhouette offers its passengers shore excursions to different local destinations. While theirs are a little more pricey than other excursion suppliers, it provides their joiners convenience (priority disembarkation and bus parking) and peace of mind (the ship will surely wait for you in case of delayed excursion returns).

This is, definitely, not my last cruise. I look forward to the next opportunity to sail aboard another luxury liner of Celebrity Cruises. It is my home, away from home!
