DCWD increases administrative charge for apprehended illegal water connections

Davao City Water District announces the increase in the administrative charge for apprehended illegal water connections from PhP5,000.00 to PhP30,000.00 effective October 1, 2025 per Board Resolution No. 25-272 dated September 3, 2025.

The DCWD management explains that the stricter penalty is meant to deter illegal connections which cause low water pressure to no water in affected areas and pose risks to water safety.

Illegal connections include unauthorized tapping into DCWD pipelines, tampering with water meters, and reconnecting service lines without approval. Such unauthorized tapping threatens the reliability of water supply and increases the risk of contamination in the water pipelines, endangering public health.

DCWD reminds the public that illegal water connections are punishable under Republic Act 8041 or the National Water Crisis Act of 1995. If found guilty, individuals caught or involved may be imprisoned for six months to two years and must pay the corresponding fines and the PhP30,000.00 administrative charge.

DCWD advises the public to report suspicious activities concerning water connections to help safeguard the integrity of the water pipelines. Customers may reach DCWD through its 24/7 call center hotline at 235-3293, text support (0927-798-8966, 0925-511-3293, or 0908-441-0653), and chat support (DCWD website: www.davao-water.gov.ph or Facebook page: www.facebook.com/officialDCWD).
