DCWD prepares Barangay Plumber Associations

Davao City Water District held an orientation among plumbers and barangay representatives on August 21, 2025 at DCWD Matina Office Multi-Purpose Hall as part of the preparations for the establishment of Barangay-Based Plumbers Associations.

Said project aims to organize local plumbers and equip them with knowledge on DCWD plumbing standards so they may provide DCWD customers with reliable after-the-meter plumbing care services including leak repairs, installations related to new service connections, and preparations for the Sanitation Service.

The community-based plumbers associations will be recognized by their respective barangays through resolutions. While DCWD does not accredit or endorse individual plumbers, DCWD will help promote the associations by providing information to customers and encouraging them to transact directly with the organized plumbers associations through their respective barangays.

The orientation was attended by 30 participants from Barangays 76-A, 23-C, Talomo Proper, Dumoy, Sto. Niño, Indangan, Communal, and Mudiang.

Topics covered included an overview of the Grassroots Project, DCWD plumbing and sanitation standards, prohibited acts such as illegal connections and water meter theft, association creation, basic customer courtesy and feedback mechanism, and the promotion and marketing of services.

The conduct of the activity underscores DCWD’s efforts to provide livelihood opportunities, strengthen grassroots partnerships, and ensure that communities have access to credible, reliable, and cost-efficient plumbing services.

Moving forward, DCWD will conduct similar orientations for other barangays in its service coverage area for them to establish their own barangay-based plumbers associations.
