Fake surveys (Editorial by Jun Ledesma)

Another survey results allegedly being undertaken by Social Pulse Philippines, have been peddled by election propagandists identified with the Nograles camp in Davao City. This despite the warning issued by the Philippine Research and Marketing Association Inc. (PRAMA) that the survey results are fake and that the firm is not registered.

PRAMA President Anton Salvador revealed that based on their investigation Social Pulse Philippines given address at Eco Tower, 32nd Avenue, Fort Bonifacio, BGC, Taguig City, is also fake.

Salvador explained that the so-called survey outfit only surfaced on Facebook this January 2025 and is an indication of its shady transaction.

In its alleged survey in Davao City Mayoral race Karlo Nograles leads with a score of 43% while former President Rodrigo Duterte garnered 38% and Bishop Rod Cubos with 15%.

But this is not the first time that the Nograles camp came out with a fake survey. Earlier they announced in print and broadcast media which was later posted on Facebook of a survey done by OCTA Research and drummed up by Nograles propagandists that showed Nograles garnering 71% and Duterte only 29%. In the same survey, Vice Mayoral bet Al-ag had 80% against Baste Duterte with 20 percentage points.

This prompted OCTA Research President Ranjit Rye to later declare and warned the public that the said survey is fake.

To date, candidate Karlo Nograles or any of his party mates have not issued any statement regarding the use of fabricated surveys in their campaign. On the other hand, the Duterte camp have yet to issue any rejoinder to the fake surveys.

We however contend that using fabricated materials to promote the winnability of a candidate only insults the intelligence of the voters and for the candidate to self-destruct.
