DAVAO CITY – Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte shared a video message on Thursday, March 13, assuring the public that he is in good condition.

“Okay lang ako (I’m okay). Do not worry,” Duterte said in a video message posted on his official Facebook page, updating Filipinos on his current status.

The former President mentioned that he was about to land in Rotterdam, Netherlands, following a stop in Dubai, describing the journey from the Philippines as lengthy.

Duterte also addressed the ongoing issues concerning law and order, reaffirming his steadfast support for the police and military.

“I told the police and the military to do their job, and I will take responsibility. This is it,” he said, referencing his well-known stance from his office.

Duterte expressed his accountability for past actions of law enforcement during the controversial anti-drug campaign–a focal point of the International Criminal Court’s ongoing investigation.

“I said I will protect you, and I stand by that. I will take the responsibility,” Duterte said, referring to the police and the military.

Acknowledging that legal proceedings may take time, Duterte remained firm in his dedication to serving the nation.

“This will be a long legal battle, but I will continue to serve my country. If this is my fate, so be it. Thank you,” Duterte concluded.

Meanwhile, thousands of supporters gathered in Davao City and other areas in Mindanao, holding prayer rallies for Duterte.

Supporters lit candles and prayed for his safety while motorcyclists drove through streets chanting his name, calling for his safe return to his hometown.

Duterte’s arrival in The Hague marks the beginning of his legal process, where he is expected to face the ICC judges who authorized a warrant for his arrest.

The investigation, centered on alleged extrajudicial killings and crimes against humanity during his presidency, continues to draw global attention.

The public remains closely tuned in, awaiting developments in the high-profile case.

The official Facebook page of The Philippine Embassy in The Netherlands said the Philippine Embassy in The Hague has extended consular support to Duterte upon his arrival at Rotterdam Airport in the Netherlands.

“To ensure his comfort amid the winter, the Embassy provided winter clothing, fresh garments, and care packages distributed to his delegation and the aircraft’s crew,” the Philippine Embassy in The Netherlands said.

It added that an ICC nurse consulted with Duterte’s nurse regarding medical arrangements to review his health status and medical needs, and an ICC physician was scheduled to perform a medical examination at the ICC Detention Center.

The Embassy also arranged visas for Duterte’s aides, including his nurse, enabling them to rest and recover before their return trip.

Former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, acting as Duterte’s legal counsel, was granted a 15-day visa and authorized to visit him at the detention center.

The Philippine Embassy in The Netherlands said the Embassy’s efforts reflect its commitment to supporting Duterte and ensuring his well-being throughout his stay in the Netherlands.
