DAVAO CITY – Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte reiterated that he has no regrets over his decisions and will not apologize for his actions during his presidency.
The former Chief Executive made the statement during the recent visit of her youngest daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, at the International Criminal Court’s detention facility in The Hague.
In a chance encounter at Duterte Street, Veronica said former President Duterte stood by his decisions as president, saying they were all made for the benefit of the country.
“No regrets, no apologies,” Veronica said, quoting her father. She added that the former Chief Executive is a firm believer of fate and destiny, and that everything happens for a reason.
“Ever since he has a very stoic and accepting mentality towards everything that is happening. According to him, you cannot escape what’s written in your palm,” she added.
Veronica assured everyone that former President Duterte remains in good health. She added that her father continues to face his situation with composure.
The youngest daughter also shared to the supporters that she brought snacks for the Duterte patriarch in another visit and they discussed about family matters.
Former President Duterte expressed pride in his granddaughter Soling, and remarked on recent reports that Davao City remains among the safest cities in Southeast Asia.
The former President was reportedly pleased, commending the leadership of acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte.
