Resort complex seen as a gamechanger

The municipality of Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental on Friday inaugurated its multi-million tourism complex that is seen to bolster its status as a prime tourist destination in the Davao region.
“This a historic moment for Governor Generoso,” said Mayor Juanito ‘Kulot’ Inojales. “Now we have the facility and the quality services to make the stay of our visitors more enjoyable, more memorable and more meaningful.”
The centerpiece of the complex revolves around a 10-room hotel, a convention hall with a 100-seating capacity, and a function hall-restaurant designed to host weddings, reunions, meetings and conferences. All are fully air-conditioned.

Other facilities include a shower area, a swimming pool and 10 cottages built along a beach that offers a view of the four-hectare Sigaboy Island to the southwest. In time, two small lakes on its east flank will be devoted to raising tilapia culture and where a facility will be built to train tilapia growers.
The municipal council chaired by Vice-Mayor Pinky Inojales is crafting an ordinance that will transform the tourism complex into an economic enterprise of the municipality.

2nd district Rep. Cheeno Miguel Almario praised the municipality of Governor Generoso Davao under Mayor Inojales for developing a sustainable landmark that is seen to help trigger the economy in the long run.

“This is worthy of replication elsewhere in the province as it brings development to a higher level,” he said.
The tourism complex is considered to be the first of its kind to be run by a local government unit in the Davao region.

It is also the latest addition to the tourist attractions of the municipality whose unique location as the country’s southeastern most municipality makes it a favorite destination for both local and foreign tourists.
The Cape of San Agustin in barangay Lavigan remains the highest revenue earner among eco-parks in Davao Oriental. The town also hosts several resorts that combine rustic settings and white sand beaches as their primary come-ons.

It is connected to the outside by well-paved roads that lead to the interior.
The tourism complex’ facilities were blessed in simple but fitting ceremonies by Parish priest Manuel Trocio and his assistant, Fr. Eleazer Pagkilatan.
The inauguration of the tourism complex wraps up a fulfilling year for the Inojales administration that saw the town achieved first-class status earlier in the year. Indications show that it is also poised to win the Seal of Good Governance for the third consecutive year based on transparent, accountable and inclusive governance. (JKL)
