The Manobo people are one of the largest Indigenous groups in the Philippines, mostly found in Mindanao. They’re not just one tribe—”Manobo” refers to a group of related tribes, each with its own dialect, traditions, and territory.
Here are the different Manobo tribes:
1. Agusan Manobo
Location: Agusan del Sur and Agusan del Norte
Language: Agusan Manobo
Known for: Rich oral literature and traditional weaving
2. Ata Manobo
Location: Davao del Norte, Davao Occidental, Bukidnon
Language: Ata Manobo
Known for: Mountain dwelling and traditional hunting-gathering practices
3. Dibabawon Manobo
Location: Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley
Language: Dibabawon
Known for: Rooted tribal leadership structures and forest-based lifestyle
4. Tigwahanon Manobo
Location: Bukidnon (around the Tigwa River)
Language: Tigwahanon
Known for: Peaceful forest communities and river-based settlements
5. Matigsalug Manobo
Location: Bukidnon and parts of Davao

Known for: Deep respect for nature and complex oral traditions
6. Obo Manobo (Ubo)
