The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has expressed its support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s recent declaration prioritizing the successful conduct of the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Election set for October 13, 2025.
The MILF views the President’s statement as a decisive end to any rumors of election delays or extensions. “We thank the President for emphasizing the importance of this historic parliamentary election in the overall success of the peace process,” the group said.
The election will mark the official end of the six-year transition period and the beginning of a new chapter with the election and assumption to office of democratically chosen Members of the Bangsamoro Parliament. MILF stressed the importance of a free and fair election, free from external influence, allowing the Bangsamoro people to choose their leaders independently.
From armed struggle to political participation, the MILF, through its political arm—the United Bangsamoro Justice Party—plans to demonstrate political maturity by supporting clean, peaceful, and credible elections.
The group also expressed confidence that the National Government and the Commission on Elections are working diligently to prepare for the election, ensuring that voters, political parties, and candidates are well informed of the new election rules and procedures.
