Paris Overload(Wanderlust by Jay Ledesma)

While Paris is popularly known for the iconic Eiffel Tower, there’s more to explore in Paris than Eiffel. Our 5-day Paris DIY adventure brought us to the other beautiful landmarks of the city… all worthy of another visit.

Montmarte is Paris on a hill. Located atop a hill of the city, this historic district gives the visitors a breathtaking view of the whole of Paris. Its charming neighborhood featuring views, monuments, quaint cafes, and local shops, is perfect for that morning or afternoon stroll. The queen of Montemarte is the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris (Sacré-Cœur Basilica). You can opt to walk the winding hill going up but in our case, since we have seniors and toddler in the family, we took the funicular. From there, we just climbed few more steps to reach the Basilica. They say, while Notre Dame is the most popular, Sacre-Coeur is the most beautiful church in Paris.

A visit to Paris will not be complete without dropping by at what’s considered as the most visited museum in the world, the Louvre Museum. The courtyard itself is already impressive and perfect for those photo ops. There one can find the most photographed large pyramid which serves as the main entrance to the Louvre Museum. Not to mention that the Louvre is home to some of the world’s most iconic pieces – paintings, sculptures, architectural elements and art objects, like the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and Winged Victory.

What used to be a swamp many years ago, the Champs-Élysées has since become the world’s most beautiful avenue. It’s a paradise for the shopaholics as all the branded and luxury brands are there. The trees (lit up at night) that line the almost 2 kilometers stretch of Champs is truly whimsical and a perfect picture postcard scene. On one end of the avenue is the Place de la Concorde and on the other end is the the Arc de Triomphe, the most popular monument of Paris. With its Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, whose eternal flame burns in honor of the fighters of World War I, the Arc has become a symbol of remembrance.

All the kids and those kids at heart will definitely have a grand time at the happiest place on Earth…Disneyland. As it is, it’s already a wonderland but seeing it in its Christmas themed decors and experiencing the Christmas themed parade, is simply magical. In our recent visit, we enjoyed our 2-day Disney pass but even that was not enough for the little children in us.

Paris is definitely one place you can’t get enough of. There are so many things to do, to see, to taste and to enjoy. But for now, this is my Paris overload!
