Malacanang through its spokesperson, Kler Castro, is into passing the buck pastime. Trying to be smart in an attempt to shield her boss from the magma of problems the administration is facing, she quipped that the travels of Vice President Sara Duterte will not solve the problem of the country.
With that statement, Undersecretary Castro exposes the enormity of problems which the Marcos administration is confronted with. The Vice President has nothing to do with how the government is being run by Marcos. She had been treated as an opposition. The Palace and the House of Representatives led by Presidential cousin Martin Romualdez had connived to have her impeached. While Marcos gave a lame excuse that has nothing to do with the impeachment move, his son, Congressman Sandro Marcos was the first to sign the articles of impeachment. That tells a lot of story of what is going on in the first family household.
Marcos, Romualdez and leftist lawmakers in Congress treated VP Sara Duterte like plague. The cousins is not hiding their agenda to stay in the totem pole of power while the garrulous Akbayan Senator Risa Honteveros is still hounded by the return of the Duterte uncompromising brand of leadership which Sara had been honed. Like Romualdez, Honteveros is eyeing the Presidency come 2028 elections. She is being endorsed by putschist Antonio Trillanes.
Despite the unceasing derogations and plots to eliminate her from the Presidential race Vice President Sara Duterte is still way ahead in surveys while the one who salivate most for the top post could barely manage a one percent rating.
Marcos should not blame the Vice President for his failure to address the complex problems of his administration. Now on the fourth year of his term he should learn to bite the bullet and stop passing the buck.
