* Raised concern for displaced families
Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go reaffirmed his commitment to bringing immediate government assistance directly to communities in need as his Malasakit Team facilitated the turnover and distribution of assistance to residents of Abucay, Bataan who were affected by Tropical Storm Crising. The activity took place on Saturday, August 1 at the Barangay Wawa Covered Court in Sitio Bakawan, Abucay, Bataan, in coordination with former mayor Robin Tagle.
Present during the distribution was Barangay Captain Noel Pring, who joined the team in ensuring that assistance reached the intended beneficiaries efficiently. Food packs were distributed to storm-hit families, along with shirts for select recipients. Beneficiaries also received ballers, basketballs, volleyballs, foldable fans, and fresh fruit as part of the aid effort.
Go stressed that disaster response is not only about relief distribution but also about showing presence and care for those who have suffered loss and disruption.
He emphasized that while direct aid helps alleviate immediate needs, long-term solutions must also be pursued to address the deeper challenges faced by affected families. This is why his work in the Senate complements his outreach activities, linking urgent relief with policies that promote resilience and recovery.
In the latter part of his message, Go highlighted his ongoing legislative push to address housing challenges faced by families displaced by disasters such as Tropical Storm Crising. He shared that he has refiled Senate Bill No. 415, or the proposed Rental Housing Subsidy Program, in the 20th Congress.
Go reiterated that his advocacy for accessible housing is part of a broader effort to safeguard the dignity, security, and well-being of every Filipino family.
