Senator Christopher “Bong” Go issued a reminder urging the public to take necessary precautions and remain vigilant on the road even after the Holy Week.
Go emphasized that safety should remain a top priority during one of the busiest travel periods of the year, when road congestion and increased mobility often lead to higher risks.
Siguraduhin nating maayos ang ating sasakyan at huwag magmadali,” the senator said.
He noted that simple measures such as checking vehicle condition, observing speed limits, and ensuring drivers are well-rested can significantly reduce the likelihood of road incidents. He also encouraged commuters to remain alert and patient, especially during long hours of travel.
“Importante po na handa tayo bago bumiyahe. Kung pagod, magpahinga muna. Huwag ipilit kung hindi na kaya. Mas mahalaga ang kaligtasan kaysa makarating agad,” Go added.
The senator also reminded public transport operators and drivers to uphold safety standards and exercise responsibility, particularly given the expected surge in passengers during and after the holiday period.
Ingatan natin sila sa bawat biyahe,” he stressed.
In addition to road safety, Go encouraged travelers to stay mindful of their health and well-being, especially in crowded terminals and public spaces, as well as under extreme heat conditions that may lead to heat stroke.
Huwag po nating ipagsapalaran ang ating kalusugan,” he said.
He advised the public to remain cautious and practice basic health measures when necessary, particularly for children, the elderly, and individuals with existing health conditions who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
As Filipinos observe the solemnity of Holy Week through travel, reflection, and time with family, Go underscored the importance of discipline and shared responsibility in ensuring a safe and orderly holiday period.
