Sen Bong Go renders Malasakit earthquake victims in Davao Oriental

Amid a series of strong earthquakes in Mindanao, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go visited Mati City in Davao Oriental to see firsthand the damage’s extent and check the residents’ situation.

“Personal kong mino-monitor ang sitwasyon at nakaantabay ang aking Malasakit Team para magbigay ng agarang tulong sa abot ng ating makakaya,” Go said.

The senator, together with Lupon Vice Mayor Atty. Christian “Chrence” Go and Mati City Councilor Xander Alcantara, first expressed condolences to the family of Teresita Narsico, one of the fatalities of the quake that struck off the coast of Davao Oriental last Friday, October 10.

Go personally went to the wake to check on and bring financial assistance to the bereaved family.

Also on the same day, Go visited Davao Provincial Medical Center in Mati City to check the condition of the 201 patients who were stationed outside the hospital for safety as a result of the earthquake and its aftershocks.

“Tandaan natin, minsan lang tayo dadaan sa mundong ito. Kung ano pong kabutihan o tulong na puwede natin gawin sa ating kapwa ay gawin na natin ngayon dahil hindi na tayo babalik sa mundong ito,” Go, more popularly known as Mr. Malasakit for his dedicated and compassionate service to his countrymen, said.

As Vice Chair of the Senate Health Committee, Senator Go called on agencies of the government, including the Department of Health (DOH), to restore normalcy in the lives of residents especially when it comes to public service delivery.

“Iyung mga nangangailangan ng tulong sa ospital, kung ano ang maitutulong ko sa inyo, kung hindi kayang operahan dito dalhin natin sa Davao, mas kumpleto doon ang ospital. Sisikapin ko na makatulong sa inyo. Sisikapin ko na makatulong sa ating mga kababayan,” Go pointed out.

“Naniniwala ako na ang katumbas ng kalusugan ay buhay ng Pilipino. The DOH and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) must continue to deliver the healthcare needs of our people, especially the quake-hit victims,” Go said.

Go added, “PhilHealth should make sure that every Filipino who is already considered a member of PhilHealth gets to benefit from all the health programs they are entitled to.”

In addition, Senator Go helped in the provision of financial assistance to students temporarily stranded in Davao Oriental State University.

Meanwhile, the senator expressed gratitude to everyone for their assistance as he called on all Filipinos to help Davao Oriental recover from the tragedy.

“Salamat sa inyong tulong. Kilala naman ang mga Pilipino sa pagtutulungan… Magtulungan lamang tayo kaya natin ito. Bangaon, Davao Oriental! Magtulungan lang tayo dito sa Mati,” Go concluded.

Apart from Mati City, Go visited Banaybanay and Lupon and extended aid to the victims.
