The fake political opposition (LETTERS FROM DAVAO by Jun Ledesma)

Jun Ledesma

The hodgepodge groups of varied political ideologies that have dedicated most of their time in demonizing Vice President Sara Duterte, have finally banded together and called themselves “The Opposition”.

They recently met and herded in a small room by their convenor, the famed but lackluster putschist, former Sen. Antonio Trillianes. They labelled themselves as “the opposition” and the “avengers” which is rather odd and a classic misnomer. The last time I heard of them, they were all like disciples of Pres. Bongbong Marcos and former Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Looking at them through a prism you see a political conglomerate of communist legal fronts, the left-leaning and if you call a Philippine Military Academy graduate a “rightist” then that make them the third political phalanx in the Philippines political spectrum. They are one of a kind and their primordial agenda is to get rid of VP Sara from the Presidential race in 2028.

There is commonality between them and Malacanang in their goal to stop another Duterte from again becoming President of the country. It has been the ultimate dream of Sen. Risa Hontiveros of Akbayan who is eyeing the Presidency and Leila de Lima who, to date, still failed to produce a single piece of evidence in what she claimed were extra-judicial killings attributed to the mythical Davao Death Squad. For Risa, it is a legitimate ambition. For De Lima it is a despiration. That is what she got for believing Rappler’s guesstimate of 30,000 EJK victims. Now even the International Criminal Court is in a quandary where or from whom will they run to to produce necessary evidence to prove crime against humanity. For the record they only have 43 alleged victims of EJK in their complaint against former President Duterte.

For another starters, Trillanes filed another case of plunder against VP Sara. As usual there is nothing new except for the astronomical figures which makes Sara in the league of Razon, Ayala and Villar.

Meanwhile, a major TV Network – GMA has joined Trillanes in downgrading Davao City by coming up with a “breaking news” branding Davao City as the most traffic -congested city in the Philippines. The story is visibly fake as the accompanying photo is nowhere in the city where smoking and speeding are controlled.
