All roads led to the Philippine Sports Arena last March 28-31for the National Cheerleading Championship. And Davao City was not only represented, it stood tall!
Following an exceptional performance during this prestigious championship, the High Pep Squad of the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) brought home the honor and made Davao City immensely proud.

The 57-member team, composed of students from Grades 7 to 12, competed against 300 teams nationwide and won multiple awards, including two gold medals and one silver medal, while proudly representing Mindanao alongside fellow regional contenders, the Cheer Cubs Allstars and the mixed contemporary pair from MSU-IIT.

The team’s dedication paid off as they triumphed in several categories. They got gold in both the Senior Mixed Hiphop and Senior Mixed Contemporary divisions. Furthermore, they also won a silver medal in the All Girls Senior Poms division, while their Senior Group Stunts Level 4 Advanced and Open COED Level 4 Advanced teams delivered strong performances against elite competition.

Behind this remarkable success are the team’s five dedicated coaches: Vench Octobre, Allien Lardizabal, Christian Jhuls, Angelica Gonzales, and Jan Kenneth Falcatan, who worked hard to help the team shine in a tough national competition
As the team returns to Davao City, they carry with them not just medals, but also the honor of demonstrating the dedication and skill of Davao City’s young athletes on the national stage. Now, the training to the next championship begins…
