* Says, the President should step down
* Expects major shift in party affiliations
Davao City – PDP senatorial bet Vic Rodriguez laughed at the call of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. for the members of his Cabinet to submit their courtesy resignation letters.
In a chance meeting at UCC Cafe here he ridiculed the President’s order saying that the Cabinet members have nothing to do with the problems that the country is facing. “Resignations of the Cabinet members is not the solution. The President himself should step down as the Chief Executive is part of the problem”, Rodriguez asserted.
Rodriguez, who lost in his senatorial bid, is in Davao City to personally extend his gratitude for the support he received in Davao Region. He was happy to have met former Davao de Oro Governor Arturo “Papa Gov” Uy at the UCC Cafe’ who was being interviewed by the Mindanao Journal regarding the current local and national developments that led to the President’s call for reconciliation and the mass resignation of the Cabinet members.
Rodriguez believes that there will be a major shift in political party affiliations following the results of the midterm elections and the magma of problems which the Marcos administration is facing. He said that while a number of congressmen identified with Speaker Martin Romualdez won in the elections, he believes that PDP should challenge his leadership, as VP Sara Duterte had hinted. Whatever will the outcome be, there will be a shift in the present political and party affiliation.
Both Rodriguez and former Governor Uy shared the same political prognosis. They believed that based on the outcome of the midterm elections, the whole of Mindanao, Cebu and Metro Manila will stay on as the political strongholds of VP Sara Duterte. The former governor of Davao de Oro said that that advantage can only go stronger as the 2028 Presidential election approaches.
