DAVAO CITY – Vice President Sara Duterte expressed gratitude to her legal team, supporters, and all who stood by her following the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling declaring the fourth impeachment complaint against her unconstitutional.
In her statement released Wednesday, July 30, Vice President Duterte said she was “deeply thankful” to the members of her defense team who took on her case when “no one else was willing to stand by” her.
The vice president also commended the petitioners in G.R. No. 278359 for challenging what she described as “abuses of the House of Representatives,” calling their action a display of conviction in the face of political persecution.
“To those whose voices rang out in dissent against persecution — thank you,” Vice President Duterte said. “Your courage to speak the truth has been a source of strength.”
Vice President Duterte also acknowledged the quiet support of ordinary Filipinos who offered prayers and encouragement throughout the legal ordeal.
“To the parents, children, and silent supporters who offered their prayers for justice — thank you. Your quiet faith lifts me,” she said.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision, Vice President Duterte reiterated her belief that the country deserves principled and selfless leadership.
“Our country deserves better, and we shall stand tall, strong, and resilient against leaders whose greed will bring down our homeland,” Vice President Duterte said.
The vice president ended her statement with a call to unity and patriotism: “Let us love the Philippines — for God, country, and every Filipino family. Thank you very much.”
The Supreme Court earlier ruled that the fourth impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Duterte violated constitutional limits, reinforcing that elected officials cannot be subjected to multiple impeachment attempts within a year.
