The City Government of Davao and Davao City Water District intensified their citywide campaign to promote the Davao City Septage Management Program (SMP) through a forum in Brgy. 5-A on April 28, 2025.
The SMP is a collaborative initiative between the two agencies aimed at creating a sustainable and responsible wastewater management to improve sanitation, protect public health, and preserve the environment in the city through enhancing compliance with the Septage and Sewerage Management Ordinance of Davao City.
Emphasized during the forum were the key components of said ordinance which include the need to have sanitary tanks that follow the standard specifications, regular sanitary tank desludging, and proper management of septage from collection to disposal.
To help Davaoeรฑos comply with the ordinance, DCWD introduced its upcoming Sanitation Service which will provide affordable, reliable, convenient, and efficient desludging, transport, treatment, and disposal of septage from households and establishments. This service will be available following the operation of the first ever government-owned Septage Treatment Plant.
DCWD also presented the status of its water service in the city and frontline services.
To date, the City Government of Davao and DCWD have already conducted promotional campaigns in 83 barangays to raise awareness and secure support for SMP. (๐พ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ด. ๐๐๐๐๐๐ง๐)
