A Day in Dubai (Wanderlust by Jay Ledesma)

Jay Ledesma

Before heading back home during our most last international travel, we stayed for a day in the beautiful Dubai. The first time I visited Dubai was almost 10 years ago, with my daughter Abbie. This time around, I was with my hubby Jun. On both occasions, we were hosted by my Dubai-based sister-in-law, Miriam, who made sure that our day was full-packed and well spent.

In one day, we got to see and experience Dubai’s 3 iconic structures: Burj Al Arab, Atlantis Hotel and the Top of Burj Khalifa.

Standing on an artificial island, is the 7-star luxury hotel, Burj Al Arab, considered as one of the tallest hotels in the world. Access to the hotel is very exclusive. I recall that during our first Dubai trip, we only had our photos taken outside the hotel premises. So, you can just imagine my surprise when Miriam told us that we will go inside Burj Al Arab. I then learned that after the pandemic, the hotel opened its doors to the public via their Inside Burj Al Arab Tour. Our 90-minute tour took us to the lobby and to the 25th floor where we visited the Royal Suite and witnessed the most luxurious interiors. After our tour, we had a taste of their Golden Cappuccino at their stunning observation lounge. I highly recommend all Dubai visitors to include this tour in their itinerary.

Our next stop was at the Atlantis, The Palm Hotel, known for its impressive architecture. They boast on having distinct and iconic suites, being a premier dining destination and home to the world’s largest waterpark, Aquaventure World. Inside the hotel’s mall, we ate at Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant. It was a brief stop as we hurried to catch our scheduled tour at the Top of Burj Khalifa.

Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, is admired for its 828 meters high and two observation decks. It houses a hotel, gym, four pools, restaurants and other facilities. The highlight of our hotel tour was reaching the 124th and 125th floors via their super speedy 10 meters/second elevator. Here we got to enjoy the incredible 360º view of Dubai and the surrounding emirate at night. What a way to cap our A Day in Dubai escapade!
