‘Wagyu’ Thrives & Breeds In Hot Climate Of South Cotabato!(FOOD FOR THOUGHT by Manny Piñol)

Manny Piñol

The herd of Wagyu Cattle which we acquired from the Alzona Farms in October last year is doing well even in the hot climate of Barangay Glamang, Polomolok, South Cotabato where temperature could be as high as as 40°C.

In just a year, the cows have already produced at least 10 calves while the others are already pregnant.

We are raising two lines of Wagyu in the Great Arch Farms owned by Outstanding OFW Arnel Corpuz, the pure Wagyu and the half-Wagyu half-Brahman called Bragyu.

This year, several native cows will also be bred to the pure Wagyu Bulls replicating a program already started in Northern Luzon where native Cattle were upgraded using Wagyu Bulls.

This is intended to improve the quality of beef to be produced by our rural farmers later.
