DAVAO CITY – The Park Inn by Radisson Davao formally kicked off on Friday, November 15, the hotel holiday festive season, with the Tambayan Center for Children’s Rights as the beneficiary of their “Log Cake for a Cause” campaign this year.
Park Inn by Radisson Davao general manager Sven Toune said the hotel’s endeavor aims to support teenage girls, children in conflict with the law, and those who went through abuse and exploitation—groups that the Tambayan assists through its programs and services.
Tambayan, a nonprofit organization, collaborates with adolescent girls wandering on the streets and children needing special protection in Davao City. Through programs and services, it seeks to address challenges faced by vulnerable children and provide a pathway to empowerment.
Park Inn by Radisson formally introduced the “Log Cake for a Cause” during its Christmas tree-lighting event, dubbed “Woodland Whispers: A Rustic Christmas, with a tagline, “Sharing the Warmth of Christmas,” setting the tone for the holiday season of giving.
Toune described the log cake as a carefully curated creation by their culinary team, ideal as a holiday gift or giveaway. He said that 25 percent of the proceeds directly benefit the children at the Tambayan Center with every purchase of the festive treat.
“Tambayan provides invaluable support to vulnerable adolescent girls and children, offering safe spaces and resources to help them improve their lives and grow into responsible community members,” Toune said, adding that the hotel aims to bring joy and assistance to those in need.
Cathy Nepomuceno, senior vice president for operations at SM Hotels & Conventions Corporation, underscored the event’s significance while announcing plans to enhance the guest experience through new projects and offerings.
Nepomuceno, who thanked all attendees of the event, highlighted the tree-lighting ceremony as a powerful symbol of hope, unity, and love during the holiday season. She also wished everyone a wonderful and meaningful Christmas this season.
Tanya Rabat-Tan, regional director of the Department of Tourism in Region 11, also shared her well-wishes for a meaningful Christmas. She encouraged everyone to embrace the spirit of gratitude and to continue spreading kindness and blessings throughout the festive season. (Photo by Rene Arias)
