Attending 4th Wagyu, Sorghum & Soybeans Forum In Piddig, Ilocos Norte Feb. 16!
Farmers from Northern Luzon who will join the 4th Wagyu, Sorghum and Soybeans Forum in Piddig, Ilocos Norte on Feb. 16 could submit soil samples for analysis for free.
The tests which will be done in Piddig on Feb. 15 and 16 and the results could be obtained within 30 minutes after the submission of the samples.
This new program which we are introducing for the first time as part of the series of Wagyu, Sorghum and Soybeans Forum.
The advocacy team which Arnel Corpuz, Dr. Roland Fajardo and I formed aim to encourage farmers to venture into Cattle Farming, especially Wagyu Breeding and Raising.
I decided to include Free Soil Analysis in the Forum after I discovered that farmers in many parts of the country do not even have an idea of their soil type or the nutritional requirements of their farms.
Those who had submitted soil samples to soil testing centers complained that it took months before they were able to get the results of the analysis, if at all.
The tests will focus mainly on soil pH and N-P-K using equipment acquired from the U.S. by farmer-scientist Rocky French and the tests will be conducted by technical team led by Joyce Tupas who was trained by Rocky French.
This Free Soil Testing is being offered as part of our advocacy to introduce scientific farming to the participants in our Sorghum and Soybeans Program.
Farmers who would like to have their soil tested are asked to submit samples from at least three locations in their farm taking the samples from a depth of at least six inches.
Soil samples must be air-dried and wrapped in paper.
The 4th Wagyu, Sorghum & Soybeans Forum is sponsored by the Local Government Unit of Piddig and the National Irrigation Administratioon (NIA).
