With the many trips I have done to Gensan, it was only recently that I got to visit the first-class municipality of Glan in Sarangani Province. Thanks to our generous host and friend Rolan Enriquez for introducing us to this premier tourist destination known as “Tour Town” of the province.
Glan is famous for the pristine powdery white sand beaches of Gumasa, considered the Boracay of Mindanao and the Tuka Marine Park, a protected marine sanctuary perfect for snorkeling and diving. It also has vast coconut plantations, and beautifully maintained heritage houses.
They have several resorts which tourists can choose from and enjoy. But we were personally impressed with one resort that we never imagined we will find in Glan… the Isla Jardin del Mar, a quiet, secluded and well-designed resort haven for both tourists and residents.
As we approached the entrance of Isla Jardin del Mar, we were amazed with the expanse of the property. Its well-manicured landscape mirrors that of other premium resorts in our country. The resort boasts of having the biggest salt water pool in Mindanao. The design of the salt water pool was inspired by that of the Plantation Bay in Cebu. They have several villas for overnight accommodations, a restaurant serving sumptuous meals, and a beach frontage either to laze around or take part in beach activities. There’s just enough space for families and friends to bond and enjoy. While most guests order meals from the resort, there is also an area for guests who want to bring their own food.
It’s just refreshing to see and experience this locally-owned beautiful resort in the heart of Glan. I just hope that the Glan LGU and our Tourism Department will do a better job in promoting the town’s Isla Jardin del Mar and other resorts. We’re just glad that we had the opportunity to visit Glan.
