On May 16, we will mark the historic founding of the Philippine Wagyu Association with an organizational dinner meeting at The Ritz Hotel Garden Oases in Barrio Obrero, Davao City.
To make the event more meaningful, the dinner’s main fare will be Roasted Wagyu Calf coming from the Great Arch Farm in Polomolok, South Cotabato which I and Cattle Nutrition Expert Arnel Corpuz operate.
More than the delicious and mouth-watering Roasted Wagyu Calf, the PWA organization meeting will be historic because it is first step in building a Wagyu Industry with farmers and agri-entrepreneurs as stakeholders.
Invited to the PWA Organizational Meeting include those who attended the series of Wagyu, Sorghum & Soybeans Forums which we conducted all over the country since November 2025.
Only those who have already formally joined the PWA and those who intend to participate in the program by enlisting on May 16 will be inducted into the Philippine Wagyu Association.
Unlike other other Cattle Organizations where members are bound by sharing breeding materials, the Philippine Wagyu Association aims to set standards in the production of the high-value Wagyu Beef.
It will start with the acquisition of breeding materials from Australia, supervision and monitoring of members’ Wagyu herd by a team of Veterinarians and Animal Health Experts, standardized Feeding and Nutrition Program to ensure uniform quality of Beef, establishment of Marbling Grade Standards and marketing of members’ Beef production with PWA Standards Certification for added value.
This will allow farmers will modest capacity to acquire breeding materials and agricultural entrepreneurs, including corporate groups and local government units, to be part of an industry with set standards.
The long-term objective of the organization is to establish a distinct genetic line of Wagyu adaptable to the local ecosystem which would later be known as the. Philippine Wagyu.
Mainly a private sector initiative but supported by government agencies and local government units, the Philippine Wagyu Association aims to increase the Wagyu population in the country to 1-million in 10 years.
