Lanang District is set for a new phase of development as Ayala Land Inc. prepares to build Ayala Malls within Azuela Cove, the 25-hectare waterfront estate along the Davao Gulf, marking the company’s second major mall project in Davao City after Ayala Malls Abreeza.
Since its launch in 2017, Azuela Cove has emerged as one of Davao City’s leading seaside lifestyle destinations, drawing residents and visitors to its promenade, wellness activities, and the open-air retail environment of Azuela High Street.
The estate’s mix of restaurants, parks, and fitness spaces has sustained substantial foot traffic, with regular sunrise yoga sessions, community gatherings, and daily recreational use.
In a recent online announcement, Ayala Land, in partnership with the Alcantara Group, stated that the planned mall responds to the growing demand for accessible public spaces and integrated retail communities in the city.
According to the company, the three-level development will be directly connected to Azuela High Street and is expected to expand the estate’s dining and shopping options while reinforcing its walkable, mixed-use character.
Designed to complement its coastal setting, the mall will feature a modern, streamlined form with clean horizontal lines and expansive glass openings to maximize natural light and waterfront views.
The structure’s soft beige exterior, landscaped edges, and outdoor terraces are designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding greenery, promenade, and sea breeze, creating a retail environment that strikes a balance between indoor comfort and outdoor experiences.
The project builds on the sustained success of Ayala Malls Abreeza, which has served as a central shopping and lifestyle hub in Davao City since its opening in 2011.
Together, Abreeza and the upcoming Azuela Cove mall underscore Ayala Land’s long-term confidence in Davao’s retail market and its continued growth.
As development progresses, Azuela Cove is positioning itself as a key coastal district where open spaces, community activities, and modern retail converge, thereby strengthening Lanang’s role as a vibrant urban destination along the Davao Gulf. (via Ivy Tejano)
