Davao City, DCWD sends aid to Socsargen and Davao Occ.

DAVAO CITY – The Davao City Government dispatched relief assistance to communities severely affected by the recent earthquake in parts of Soccsksargen and the Davao Region.

A total of 4,000 boxes of relief goods and 3,000 one-liter bottles of drinking water were delivered to General Santos City, several areas in Sarangani province, and Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental.

The city government said the shipment was undertaken in coordination with the Davao City Water District and bottled water supplier Nature’s Spring.

According to the city, it deployed a 42-member response team composed of personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Engineer’s Office, City Mayor’s Office, Security Cluster, and other frontline units, to support the operation.

Davao City officials said the assistance is part of continuing relief and rehabilitation efforts following last week’s magnitude 7.8 earthquake, which displaced thousands of families and caused widespread damage across affected provinces.

In addition to the recent dispatch, the city government previously coordinated with the Office of Civil Defense–Region 11 to facilitate the delivery of potable water to impacted communities.

The CDRRMO also assisted in the medical evacuation of patients from Sarangani to the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City for further treatment.

City Officials said additional aid may still be sent depending on evolving needs in affected local government units as recovery operations continue. (By Ivy Tejano)
