Despite all VP Sara is unbeatable (LETTERS FROM DAVAO by Jun Ledesma)

She is the most maligned and an object of endless barrage of organized denunciation from a phalanx of characters from different political parties and ideologies that banded together to stop her from the 2028 Presidential race.

It is a shameless alliance that included a drugged-rehabbed priest, a Fr. Flavie Villanueva, and Certain Fr. Joel Saballa who ceased from performing sacred rituals and instead joined the fray in faulting Vice President Sara Duterte for the ₱612-million confidential and intelligence funds for the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education when she was still the Secretary. The same clerics are either blind or they just conveniently skipped the P1.3-trillion in corruption over the ghost flood control projects and the ₱10-billion CIF of the Office of the President. Behind them are the likes of Rep. Leila de Lima and convict France Castro who, like Lisa Hontiveros, who have not hidden their fear for another Duterte from becoming President anew.

Apparently the men in the frock lacked credibility they drafted a conman, a certain Ramil Madriaga, whose script claimed that he is a bagman of Sara. Frankly, I never hear of this character in the scant political campaign team of either Sara and her father, the former President Rodrigo Duterte.

It turned out that this Madriaga is an inmate who was convicted and sentenced for life imprisonment for the crime of kidnapping – for ransom. No, the Dutertes do not deal with shady characters.

The public is obviously aware that the charges against VP Sara is politically motivated. Standing virtually alone against the immoral alliance of her political adversaries, she continued with her rounds of the country touching base with remote communities rarely visited by government. And she hobnobs with the populace. Her presence was always a celebration given her natural charisma. The womenfolk adore her and they literally embrace her like a long lost daughter.

It is therefore not surprising that her net satisfaction rating increased in the November Fourth Quarter 2025 survey of Social Weather Stations (SWS). VP Sara received a +28 rating, up by 6 points from the +22 she got in September 2025.

On the other hand net satisfaction rating of Pres. Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s performance is -3, or “neutral,” according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey. Strange and funny but some media establishments do not report the negative score of PBBM. The survey by the way was non-commissioned.

The straw poll also showed Senate President Vicente Sotto getting a net satisfaction rating of +16; Speaker Bodjie Dy’s satisfaction rating at +5; and Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo at +9.

VP Sara’s net satisfaction rating is highest in Mindanao at +70, Visayas at +41, Balance Luzon at +9, and Metro Manila at net zero.

Compared to September 2025, net satisfaction with Duterte rose by 10 points from -1 in Balance Luzon, and by 9 points from +32 in the Visayas. It fell slightly by 3 points from +3 in Metro Manila, while it barely moved from +69 in Mindanao.

Vice President Sara’s net satisfaction argues well against all the charges and issues raised against her. For now she is unbeatable and even her political enemies grudgingly admits that.
