* Survey bares clean sweep
Davao City – Former President Rodrigo R. Duterte trounced his former spokesman Karlo Nograles in Davao City’s mayoral race as shown in the recent survey conducted by the University of Mindanao-Institute of Popular Opinion (UM-IPO). Duterte who remained tight-lipped about the mayoral race garnered 60 percent of voters preference against Nograles who had mounted a propaganda blitz with a phalanx of radio commentstors but managed a dismal score of 10 percent.
Incumbent Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte who, this time is running for Vice mayor, eclipsed his rival Bernie Al-ag with 55.7 percent. Al-ag faired better than Nograles with 14 percent.

In the congressional race incumbent 1st District Rep. Paolo “ Polong” Duterte chalked in 54.8 percent of survey respondents far ahead of Margarita “Migs” Nograles of Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Party-list Representative who managed only 16.1 percent.
In the second district, Omar Duterte is set to putting an end to the dominance of the Garcia clan with 41.8 percent against Javi Campos’ 23.4 percent.
In the 3rd district incumbent Representative Isidro Ungab garnered 39.6 percent, followed by Wilberto Al-ag who scored 23.2 percent.

The Dutertes and Ungab are running under PDP-Laban and Hugpong Sa Tawong Lungsod. Nograles team is running under the the well-oiled ruling party Lakas- CMD.
The University of Mindanao-Institute of Popular Opinion (UM-IPO) survey, was conducted from January 8 to 28, 2025 and covered all three districts. It collated voters’ preference from 2,582 registered voters in a tedious face-to-face interviews.
The City Council race is a free-for-all among members of Hugpong sa Tawong Lungod.
Leading the race in the 1st district are Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II, J. Melchor Quitain Jr., Jessica “Cookie” Bonguyan, Radge Nino Ibuyan, Bonz Andre Militar, Atty. Luna Acosta, Pamela “Paneng” Librado, and “Tek” Ocampo.
In the second district, top contenders are are Danilo “Danny” Dayanghirang, Al Ryan Alejandre, Jonard Dayap, Louie John Bonguyan, Diosdado Mahipus, Cheche Justol, Doce Apostol, and Ralph Abella.
In the 3rd district, the same familiar names dominate the race which include Atty. Bai Hundra Cassandra “Sweet” Advincula, Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, Rachel Zozobrado, Alberto Ungab, Jopet Baluran, Petite Principe, Enzo Villafuerte, and Trisha Ann Jasmin Villafuerte.
The survey results reflect the Davaowenyos preference for the Duterte brand of leadership. This despite the magma of black propaganda against the Dutertes waged by their political adversaries in the national and local arenas.
