ICC ALLOWS VIDEO ATTENDANCE FOR DUTERTE IN FIRST HEARING

The pre-trial proceedings of the International Criminal Court on the charges against former President Rodrigo Duterte have started. Presiding Judge Iulia Motoc has allowed FPRRD to attend the proceedings via video link. His legal counsel, former Executive Sec. Salvador Medialdea however is present in the chamber.

The venue of the trial is at the Hague, Netherlands.

ICC Judges present includes Judge Iulia Antoanella Motoc (Presiding Judge), Judge Reine Adélaïde Sophie Alapini-Gansou, and Judge María del Socorro Flores Liera.

Earlier, Friday, former Spokesman Harry Roque arrived at the Hague and met with Vice President Inday Sara Duterte and Sen. Robin Padilla. Roque, is working on his entry as additional Counsel for PRRD.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Election in a statement said that FPRRD who is running for Mayor in Davao City remains to be a legitimate candidate. The clarification was issued following rumors that Duterte is disqualified now that he is facing trial in the Hague.

The support on Duterte including the PDP-Laban senatorial slate has significantly increased. In a recent survey re-electionist Senator Bong Go has grabbed the lead. The trend is expected to escalate further as sentiments for former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte have intensified.
