The Marahan Farmers Cooperative, based in Davao City, has received significant support through the Malasakit sa Kooperatiba program, an initiative of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) championed and supported by Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, who is a member of the Senate Committee on Cooperatives.
The cooperative was granted financial support last year which has been a great help to the cooperative, enabling them to purchase vegetables and boost their operations. The members are optimistic that this assistance will significantly contribute to the growth and sustainability of their cooperative, providing better opportunities for their community.
In a heartfelt message of gratitude, the cooperative shared their appreciation for the support received:
Senator Bong Go, a staunch advocate for cooperatives and grassroots economic development, reaffirmed his dedication to supporting initiatives like Malasakit sa Kooperatiba.
“Cooperatives play a vital role in uplifting the lives of their members and fostering economic development in local communities. Through the Malasakit sa Kooperatiba program, we aim to provide financial aid and other forms of support to help cooperatives thrive. As Vice Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, I will continue pushing for sufficient funding for programs that empower our cooperatives,” Go stated.
The Malasakit sa Kooperatiba program, under the CDA’s Human Capital Development Program, is designed to strengthen cooperatives through financial support, training, and capacity-building initiatives. Go advocated for continuous funding for the said program.
With continuous support and the unwavering advocacy of leaders like Senator Go, cooperatives such as the Marahan Farmers Cooperative can look forward to sustained growth and economic resilience. This success story highlights the power of collaboration among cooperatives, local leaders, and government agencies in achieving shared prosperity.
“Through programs like Malasakit sa Kooperatiba, more cooperatives across the country will continue to receive the support they need, ensuring a stronger and more resilient cooperative sector for years to come,” Senator Go concluded.
