The declaration by the Commission on Audit that the financial statement of the Office of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte was accurate, complete, and fully compliant with existing laws, regulations, and accounting standards virtually absolved her from any wrongdoing which was raised against her by some characters in the House of Romualdez.
This, ahead of the Senate impeachment trial of the Vice President on issues raised by the Representatives who charged her of misuse and malversation of Confidential funds and graft and corruption among others.
The conspiracy of congressmen who fear the return of Duterte leadership and the pro-communist Partylist representatives who abhorred Sara for her role in NTF-ELCAC that led to the demise of CPP/NPA-NDF had their moment of ecstasy and celebration when, together, they impeached her.
They made mountain of a molehill of the VP’s confidential intelligence fund. Their propagandists had their feasts too.
Meanwhile the mainstream media is quiet. The fact checkers maintained distance and sepulchral silence as they did not expect the truths behind the expenditures of the Office of the Vice President could emerge at the height of vilification orgy.
This is not the first time that the OVP under the incumbency of Sara Duterte obtained the highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit. It’s a grand slam for Inday Sara as the recent citation marked the third year that the OVP received an unmodified opinion for its financial statements and management. In short the OVP complied with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards.
The COA report is likewise a vindication of OVP Chief of Staff Zuleika Lopez who was a victim of overbearing QUAD investigating Committee cited her in contempt, have her jailed which ended in her hospitalization.
Meantime we await the climax of the grand expose’ of Sen. Ping Lacson who shocked the nation with his revelation that lawmakers received billions in “pork barrel” with one congressman receiving a whooping ₱12-billion!
