Peaceful Cities(Editorial by Jun Ledesma)

Peaceful cities do not come as a matter of course. It is a product of uncompromising leadership, law enforcement and discipline among others.

This year’s most peaceful cities in the Philippines are Dumaguete and Davao. The two cities have distinct attributes however.

Dumaguete City total land area is about 34 square kilometers with a population of 134,103 people. It is the site of the prestigious Silliman University.

Davao City is the largest city in the Philippines with a total land area of 2,443.61 square kilometers and has a population of 1,776,949 people, ranking it as the third-most populous city in the Philippines after Quezon City and Manila. While it is the commercial and communications center of Mindanao it boasts of it richness in flora and fauna. Davao City Water District holds the distinction of being the most efficient water utility in the country. Its commercial and residential landscapes change rapidly the capitalists encouraged by the stable peace and order and government services. Davao City too is the 2nd most peaceful place in Southeast Asia.

Dumaguete is known for its long beach line. Davao City takes pride of its evolving coastal boulevard which could very well become the most beautiful worldwide.
